Christian Maquilón has portrayed characters such as Carlos Vaca in 3 Familias and Stalyn Pañalosa in Así Pasa, but he recognizes that none has marked his career as much as this one. “Wherever I go, people ask me for La Tita. Thanks to God and the audience’s affection, it has become the character that identifies me.” The creation process was quite unique. Tita, a colorful and naïve character who is a member of the LGBTIQ+ community, was inspired by a young man from La Troncal who lived for several years in Maquilón’s mother’s house while studying dentistry. His gestures, way of speaking, and distinctive style served as the foundation for the character. To this, phrases from friends—especially from the “rainbow community”—were added, contributing trendy expressions to keep the character fresh and relevant. The final name came from a makeup artist who suggested calling her Tita, as it is short and easy to remember. Later, television stylist Marlon Anzules contributed the iconic introduction: “un 5 de mayo nació la palabra belleza,” a line that became a signature phrase and helped propel the character’s popularity on social media.
