He began his career with the character La Vecina, performing street theater with a style of vulgar and crude humor, wearing short tight clothing, sneakers, and a messy wig. Over time, the character evolved in appearance from its early street-theater version to its television adaptation, adopting longer floral dresses and less exaggerated colored wigs. The character La Vecina is named María Conchita de la Concepción Martínez Pilataxi Rumualdo Estefanía. He has also faced criticism for his use of language; however, Delgado defends himself by stating that many renowned stand-up comedians also use similar language and that his performances always carry messages with positive values. His first television appearances were in shows such as Mis Adorables Entenados con Billete and Súbete a mi Taxi, with the support of Oswaldo Segura, creator of both comedy programs. He also appeared in Guayaquil Caliente on SíTV, and later participated in De la Vida Real on Ecuavisa. In 2006, he starred in the Ecuavisa series Acolítame, alongside actors Tania Salas, Santiago Naranjo, Martha Ormaza, and Karen Flores. In 2007, he hosted the program Almuerce con Nosotros on TVS. In 2008, he joined a comedy segment on Ecuavisa’s En Contacto, performing as La Vecina alongside Richard Barker as Perlita Perol. That same year, he also played Pedrito, a frustrated actor and best friend of Toño Palomino, portrayed by Martín Calle, in the telenovela El Secreto de Toño Palomino. In 2012, he participated in 12 episodes of the comedy program Los Capos de la Risa on TC Televisión, alongside Richard Barker, Andrés Garzón, Sofía Caiche, Segundo Naranjo, Fernando Villao, and Carmen Angulo. That same year, he also took part in the sketch comedy show Ni Pies Ni Cabeza, featuring segments such as “Noche a Noche con La Vecina,” “Sin Don ni Talento,” “Noti-Escucho,” “La Castigadora,” and “La Traicionera.” Starting in July 2013, Delgado launched a stand-up comedy tour titled El Shumare de los Monólogos, where he discussed contemporary topics at the time, as well as the origins and evolution of his character La Vecina into television. In August 2014, he joined the GamaTV program Comedia Divina, directed by Jorge Pérez, performing La Vecina in stand-up comedy format alongside Juana Guarderas and Daniel Machado “Jack.” He also performed the stand-up show Una Grillamundial, where he portrayed La Vecina and humorously discussed women’s experiences during the FIFA World Cup and Ecuador’s participation in the 2014 Brazil World Cup. In September, he became part of the variety and talk show Te Tomaste la Noche as a host performing La Vecina, alongside Gustavo González, Pamela Palacios, Alejandra Jaramillo, and Ricardo González, replacing the earlier program Patomarte la Noche hosted by Patricio “El Pato” Borja in its first season.
